Boss Items / Relics / Artifacts:
- Are special items with special abilities.
- Can only start with one (of these items) or none. Based on class/character, you will get the best suited item to the selected class/character.
- You only need to pick the item, see the description (will pop up) to get it, in your collection.

Important!
- To see if there is going to be a mini-boss/secret on a given level look at your turn log when you enter a level. An example is in the 2nd floor at Journey to the Kimon it says: "A dungeon fit for a king." which means that the Goblin King is somewhere on the level.

Jorney to the Kimon:
- Steel Runesword (Second floor, from Goblin King chest)
+7/20 Melee, +Necrotic Damage

Battle for Stormrise:
- Chef's Meat's cleaver (First floor, dropped by the Human Chef)
+1/11 Melee, +Silvered Attack, Swift

- Unicorn's Horn (Second floor, dropped by the Unicorn at the Castle Zoo)
+5/2 Magic, +5 Defence, +Silvered Defence, -Necrotic

- Jester's Hat (Fifth floor, dropped by Jester, the guy at the king's room)
Regeneration

Dark hearts and evil minds:
- Eye Stalk's Necklace (Fourth floor, dropped by the Eye boss - need shadowform to get it)
+5/+10 Magic, Magic Defence, +2 Defence, +Psychic Defence

You can only pick one of three from the quest (So have to do 3 times to get them all):
- Guldar's Helmet (Fifth floor, from the chest)

Mask of the boy king:
- Girdle of Hippolyta (Second floor, from Lych Prince chest) *MOBILE ONLY

- Burial Mask (Fifth floor, dropped by the last boss)
+3/2 Melee, +2/2 Ranged, +1/2 Magic, +8 Defence, +Necrotic Defence, -Lightning

Tower of the Magus:
- Wizard's Slippers (Second floor, need a shadowform item to get it because its hidden in a safe in a location surrounded by walls. Indicated by a blue torch)
+8/4 Magic, Magic Defence, +4 Defence, +Fire Defence, Spawning (It's the ability that some of the Lemures have in Battle for Stormrise which means they can create clones of themselves. It doesn't have an icon or any indicator because it isn't intended for the player.)

They Dwell Beneath:
- Black Leather Necronomicon (Fifth floor, can be found at the same room as the final boss in a chest/safe)
+6/3 Melee, +6/+3 Ranged, +6/+3 Magic, +3 Defence, +Necrotic Defence, -Divine, Shadowform

- Vorpal Longsword (Fifth floor, random drop)
+7/26 Melee, +Silvered Damage, +Dragon Bane Damage

The Girdle is indeed an artifact from the mobile version. The '^' just denotes that it is an artifact. It gets destroyed after it resurrects your character.

The mini bosses and level feelings were being collated here, but it seems as though it never got completed. If you post any missing bosses/feelings I'll put them on the list. Same for the artefacts. I'll just have to verify the info first so the list is definitively correct.

No idea if somebody else already posted this, but... Found a relic on the mobile version that wasnt listed:

Girdle^ of Hippolyta
(on main screen known as "Of Hippolyta Girdle^"):

"Stolen from Hippolyta, queen of the Amazons, by Heracles as part of his twelve labours the girdle later became lost to the ages. It is said to have great protective qualities."

(I believe there's a typo in that description and the name. No idea if it's supposed to have the ^. On the main screen it also is worded wrong/out of order. Also, should it be "...of his twelve labours. The girdle later..." ? Just asking in case they are typos. If not I apologize.)

Range 2/4
Defense 7
Resistant: Acid/Poison
Vulnerabilities: Fire
Ability: Resurrection

Found in: Mask of the Boy King - It's in a chest guarded by two red knights. I want to say Lich Knights but I honestly have never looked, I just have to run because those guys HURT! Ill attempt to verify their name, hopefully I'll remember to come repost or something... lol


Love the item, it works great for beginning out. Though it will sometimes just break on you, not too sure why... I think it breaks after being attacked so much or with fire, not too sure on the cause but it will disappear. Unless I'm just crazy and have repeatedly swapped it without realizing... Ill try to verify this.

Also, not to make my post extremely long, but I also found several boss/mini-bosses in Mask of the Boy King.

On the 3rd floor i believe it was, theres a room that almost always spawns afaik that has two Vampire Brides. ( is this the right name for them?) I once found a coffin hidden behind their room that brought out like a vampire prince dude or something, and he had 3 forms. The first one was a bat, the second one he was a human, and the third one was a ghost version of himself. Each had about 30 hp, and the ghost could move through walls.

After killing his second "form" he dropped an item, if i remember correctly it looked like a skull or something. No idea if he always drops this, sometimes drops it, or if its just a normal random drop from killing an enemy. I have a feeling that theres something obtained from killing his third form...

Next, on the first floor there's often a den of werewolves, same thing as the vampire chicks or those red knights guarding the Girdle. Theres two small gray wolves and a big brown "werewolf" that howls when you open the door. He also says something when he dies, but I don't remember it being anything humanistic, just howls i think.

Finally, on the 4th floor ( and always on only this floor, appearing every time, ) There's a room guarded by two Skulls that are locked in cages. They are like pink ish I think, maybe Psychic powered i have no idea, and they both -may- have swift, as it always seems like they attack a ton. Anyways, there is a special looking coffin at the back of this small room, which when opened spawns another boss/mini-boss of some sort. I think this is in the PC version too, but i dont know for sure sorry. The boss is magic based and does lightning damage i believe. When you enter the floor you can read "The King is dead! Long unlive the King!" ( im pretty sure thats word for word...) I have a feeling that he too may drop something...

Maybe David will be able to correct a few of these names and facts just to make sure we have all the correct info. If you can that would be great, as im really curious if this was a chance encounter with the vampire and his coffin is rarely spawned there or if I just happened to release him from that coffin and he can actually spawn from any of them. Hm... :)

Man this is so exciting! Love this game so much, though it definitely is very hard. So addicting though... ;D

The Queen in Stormrise does indeed carry a silver orb, but it isn't an item artifact. It should be noted though that the mobile version does have some extra artifacts in that haven't yet made their way into the desktop version, and aren't on this list. Happy hunting.

I was playing through Battle for Stormrise and when the queen died at the hand of the demons, she dropped a "Silver Queen's Orb^"  or something to that effect.  She hasn't dropped it again in my many other attempts, and I notice it doesn't appear in this list.. am I crazy?

Wow, kid... Just... wow. overly obsessive much for MMOs? News flash, Junior, this is NOT an MMO, no matter HOW MUCH you want it to be. It's a quite unique, entrancing experience for those of us who like roguelike games. And I'm pretty certain, by the way the system on the game handles mob AI, both friendly and hostile, the engine could NOT handle multiplayer without some massive recoding. If you've ever noticed when you've tamed several "pets" as I'll call them, the game tends to slow down just a little? well, that's because the game is taking just a little extra time to calculate the data needed just for the different actions that could be made by the countless AI. So, I really do NOT, I repeat do NOT see multiplayer capability in the near future, if ever. I'm fairly certain that this game was intended to be single player *GASP* :O shocker! Not all games nowadays NEED multiplayer to be good. Furthermore, if he did make it MMO, then one, it'd ruin the ambiance of... ya' know... being ALONE on a quest; as well as make his game like a LOT of others out there, which I'm certain is not what the dev (sorry if I don't know your name right off the bat) intended nor intends. Game devs want their game to be unmistakeable from all the other games out there. I mean, if someone made a game like final fantasy right down to the dot in the "i" and the cross of the "t", but called it something like "Epic Adventure" or some other lame name, I can bet you people who'd never played it before would say "Final Fantasy"? Yes, originality is hard to come by in this age, what, with so many different ideas floating around out there in the commercial consciousness, sure. And yeah, people will take inspiration from others, while some will just outright steal ideas from others and not give credit, calling it their own, but you see... not everyone wants to be like everyone else in the field of games. Actually, I'm pretty certain no one does. It's their game, and if they're not getting credit for it, who should they sue-- you know?

Now, to the game dev: Thank you for creating this game. I've wasted MANY hours away at it, and I mean MANY. Just last night, I lost track of time on the "Oni" quest and when I stopped playing, it was well past midnight with me having to wake up at 4 am for work. What you've made here is a delightful throwback game to a time when I was a kid about 14 years ago. I've always loved the randomness of these types of games, because it's like life, it's not always about skill. And I must admit, though I haven't quite yet completed the entire game, i.e. unlocking all characters, getting all the achievements and relics, I can say that I will continue to play this game until my eyeballs fall out of my head and my eye stalks shrivel up and turn to powder. Kind of a gruesome example, but I feel my point was made. Now, whatever additions you bring to the table in later versions of this game, if any, will be welcomed highly by me. A word of caution though, keep the ideas your own. Don't let others tell you what to add, unless of course, you ask or think it's a REALLY great idea. Well, now that I've said what I think is sufficient praise, it's back to grabbing more of those unknown relics. :D

Yes, you only need to pick it up.  Once you pick it up and the item description pops up, that item will be in your relic collection forever.  For example, when I found the runesword I was not playing a melee character, so I picked up the item and then dropped it.  It now randomly appears when I start a new game.

You don't need to complete the quest.
You don't need to take the relic with you.
You only need to pick the item up, even if only for a turn.

So you only have to find Relic(Like Unicorn Horn) and pick up, and it will randomly appear on Any new toon you start with sometimes as long as they can use it..Or do you have to win the dungeon/quest with it in your posession for it to be used..?

The guards outside the boy kings room use lightning as well and if you are lightning weak you'll just get ruined, two attacks with chance to stun, you'll be dead in seconds

I had 105/50 110/35 125/60 and 230 hp and took a light blue potion that said takes away enchantments...and every thing went to 40 and below and i died right after, Is this potion always light blue, If so can you lower the damage a little on that one..Seems pretty extreme, i mean half would be nice, but it took well over 3/4s.. and i had been working on that guy for like 4 hours..:( And i have alreeady told 4 people about this game..I hope you love it as much as we do lol..:) Out of 212 plays i have won six times..have all the aceivements but 4, and the mask and runesword..is as far as i have gotton..And again love the game David..:)

Hunters can wear shoes, but halflings refuse to wear shoes. They don't like having their big hairy feet covered.

I'm not sure the relics and artifacts thread is the best place to be looking for answers to these questions though.

Make the fighter and saracen have taunts, maybe ranger with sneak,rouge to! enchantress sleep, wizard teleport escape, ninja be able to jump over to get out of cornered,..things like that..:) Illusionist be able to crete 3 of himself, and confuse etc etc

Oh yeah... Also make full screen work, Mine only goes 3/4 and the rest is filled with color on the outside, Can i fix this somehow.?
   The look is better with darker colors, the bright walls and floors are to much, just my opinion..:) It looks much better with darker walls amd floors just a little lighter. I noticed alot of things say like grates or molds or bones or pictures etc..Make them all do something, Say three types of mold make cure poison, or sometimes key in bones for a certain chest you left on last level. Then you have to go up and fight back to it, But these mobs dont drop anything, SO its tough choice or pictures rarely spawn an awsome Weapon,Armor etc, but mostly 3 ghost spawn..or whatever..Maybe i am Sendin to many post lol..where is everyone..:(

Ill give a 10 for fun just add size look quests content  Items Monsters Weapons Armor. Secret doors...Maybe even a key that has to be found to open door to next level..Man theres so much stuff lol..this game has amazing potiential. Am looking forward to seeing it all..Just make sure to amke money so you can afford multiplayer in then end..maybe party's of 4 ..make sure they can pop wherever there friends are, and make it so they can go back up levels..in case they need to go help out a weaker friend..:)

Wizards/Enchantreses can cause 4 space wide explosions/ hunters can tame animals. And you can level these skills up by collecting some item 1 each per every 5 levels etc.. theres all kinds of cool things.. i would add 1 big patch per months . charge like 10 dollars... leading up to one major patch after like 6 months to a year.. then add multiplayer..10 dollars per month tp play with small patchs offered in some type of picture in your house where you keep all your trpohies/awards/how long played awards/how many friends brought to game awards/your profile/account etc etc. Make it where you can buy your own castle, and whatever freindly you have encountered in dungeon you can stock in your house, and level and equip, and can take 1 with you when you enter dungeon, and try and keep alive, these are just some thought, got tons more..just increase graphics like 20 30 % leave layout(maybe doubling size and way more depth, at least a 100) And most importantly keeping concept above all, The playabilty and strategy/exitement are perfect,

As for ring's. Make it 8 ring's, 4 for each hand, making gauntlet's and gloves ,etc a different category. Also add earring's and make it where you can add your name, Also name your friendl'y(humanoid) and equip them would be sweet!! Could also mount you animal friendl'y!! Could store them in a little pen at your house. could add features like skill's, Rouge can detect secrets/ sneak, steal/ paladins,clerics, can heal 1 2 3 times per level..etc, can cure poison, Knights can get double attack, saracens/fighters can duel wield. But make it all like this layout, Tiny simple fast, Make a little town background trainer for animals,store, Barber, King who gives quests and trophies and awards, Holds feats, Offers you his daughter and you have little kids, You train and send in hoping they make it to tenths level to save!

Really i dont want you to change the game at all, mechanics and the way it plays..i was meaning..Just make graphics like 20% better, and poisning wearing off is all, Maybe items that help it wear off. Everything else is just add's to game..I love this game it's sweet..But larger dungeons, say twice as big, Secret rooms,(Saying torches as levers etc) And then add say 100 levels deep with the challenge of getting 10 levels down before save, Maybe add sleep for the bed's, That will only take you back to the highest HP you aceived so far, With a chance of random attack. Theres so much potiential in this game as a challenge it's amazing,Dieing has never been so fun lol, really all you have to do is improve graphics, and just make bigger dungeons with 100 levels deep, 10th level saves and the rest is just content, quests and numbers increase as you go deeper, and hell man i will spend my money on this, Seriously you got a gold mine here, this game is exrtremly fun and challenging!! As far as the 6 slot bag to hold items, You would have to add more info on monsters, Showing what there weaknesses are, Say you come upon a dragon that's weak to fire, You whip out your Fire wand in your bag and use it etc..things like that. Also you could make it where you can go back up to previous levels, To get something you left, Say because 2 items got broke from a wizard, or go back up to take some coffins you left, Because health is runnin low, Or to use a bed you didn't need at the time, Or even make it where it resets with some monsters, So you can get stronger, because your not strong enough for level you went to, Man theres tons of stuff for this little game, Just don't change the concept and playability, that's where the gold lies..:)

Wow feloneous, you've obviously put a lot of thought into this. I'll probably not make a direct sequel to HSL, but I'm not ruling out something like a sci-fi varient. HSL will get additional content though. New characters, quests, items, artifacts, and enemies are all planned for future updates.

Looking through your ideas I'm not entirely sure what some are supposed to achieve. The wearing 10 rings and having 6-8 inventory slots for example, what is the reasoning for these? The game is purposely balanced as it is with a limited inventory to force the player to make meaningful choice with every item of loot they pick up. Having a grab bag of mix and match items would mean the player would be able to keep items to cover every eventuality, when really the point of the limited inventory is so the player must make hard choices to prepare for what might be coming in the future.

The poison problem is often bemoaned, and I'll freely admit that I got that one wrong. You'll be glad to hear that in the next update poison wears off.

There are some great ideas there.  Speaking of great ideas when is the next patch coming for this game.  I love it and all but i would like new quests and weapons, items etc.... soon.

This is just way way to much, It ruins the whole experience, You could make it where a campfire/or mold etc can cure, That way you can have in the back of your mind where these were in case you do get poisoned!!! Or make it where you have to collect certain things to make a cure or just make it not last so long. If this doesnt happen i see things ending badly for everyone who loves this challenging little wonderful game. Thank You Hope to see Some patches soon on Steam..;)

Drop a more powerful weapon in front of him, he'll pick that up, and as a result he'll drop the cleaver.

Kill him.  I've only met him twice.  The first time, he dove head first into monsters and got killed.  Didn't drop anything.

The second time, I attacked and killed him.  Dropped the relic.

Since I've seen allies drop gear from dying to monsters, I'm guessing that the drop is random, and that it was just coincidence that I got the item from killing him.

How do you get the chef's cleaver? Is it a random drop when he dies? Do you have to kill him? Beat the level with him alive?

I have been playing 1-2 weeks I guess.. I have 1xx wins and 1x deaths :) Only missing the Vorpal Longsword tho.. but I have done a lot of the Dwell quest and still no drop :( I believe I have 100% except the last artifact

I've been playing since beta, I'm missing Ring/Hat/Vorpal, and I never finished Stormrise, so don't worry :)

is there any chance HSL will get steam cloud support in the future?

I don't know if I should be embarrassed, but I have 30+ hours and i'm still missing like 2 artifacts (Gax ring/Vorp sword I think). Would be a pain to have to start over without the artifacts/characters every time I reinstall.

I like the idea of the disarm to get an artifact. The coaxing a boss to drop an artifact might be a step too far though.

I'll make sure there is a waist artifact in the next quest.

I would love to see joke artifacts like the Wooden Spoon and Toy Sword.

Maybe a tomb-only artifact in Level 4 of Boy King. While Level 1 is most dangerous, you can just keep replaying until you get it. Level 4 has more vampyres and mummies than skeletons so the Lych Mage and Divine Classes have to stay on their toes, and the spirits will wear you out with their Shadeform and Swift. You could also make the Boy King's staff an artifact for those that dare to disarm him.

Another cool thing would be for the Oni (Journey to Kimon) to wear an artifact, and the only way to get it would be dropping an equip with higher defense so he drops the artifact. We are missing a Waist-slot artifact ;)

I don't see how adding more artifact will drop the value of existing artifacts. There are already artifacts whose sole purpose is to help complete the Tomb Raider trophy. If anything, just adjust the Tomb Raider to 'collect all artifacts' and the individual artifact value won't change.

I think it'll help newer player transition into later floors to have more artifacts like the Runeblade and Unicorn Horn. And with wider variety of stats and resistances. Having more variety will allow for more character customization too. It'll add more depth to the game.

I'm adding in a visual tell for artifacts in the next version, which means if you are paying attention you'll be able to spot artifacts before picking them up.

Artifacts are special that is why there are so few of them. I can always add more in the future if the game needs fresh boost of artifacts.

Remember it's only 6 quests. I don't think its to little at all because the game isn't THAT big.

No way of knowing before picking it up, but the list of relics are short anyways so it's pretty easy to remember.

And yeah the list is complete. Way too little imo.
