Question about saving game progress. There are 8 replies

This is not about saving while in the quests (though would be nice as some of them can take many hours to complete "in style'), but about that stats tracked - Kills, Turns, Deaths and Wins, are not saved when game is exited.

Is it not coded, or just a bug? As to unlock all characters probably would not be possible like that without playing game for few days straight (or dieing for hours straight, which isn't that fun).

To get the game to save progress on computers with a non-English username run the game with the 'compact' app argument.

Steam Cloud arrived after this games initial release. I'd love to add it, but it requires a partial rewrite which I don't have time for at the moment due to other project commitments.

Hi, I really enjoyed your game but this bug just caught me... Usally I play on my Mac so, and saving progress is working fine but... on Windows my document path has some characters that doesnt fit into ASCII coding so my progress wasnt saved after my 10 hours marathon :(.

BTW... why saved games aren't syncd with steam? I know I can recopy my saved games, but why not?

Well, a somewhat less intrusive approach might be to run the game inside a VM?

I haven't worked out a fix yet, but this bug is my main priority. I'm trying a few possible solutions. Something will be in the next update to address this I'm just not sure what it is yet though.

So, is there any kind of temporary fix for this, or an update fixing this is comming?

I dont feel like creating whole new user account in system to play one tinny game, even if its good.

You CAN save while in quests, though I did not realize this until MANY hours into the game, as it is not apparent from the UI.

Just hit Escape from inside the quest to go back to title/menu screen.  Then there's a button in bottom right, if you hover over it it will say Continue.  It will continue from where you left off.

You can only have 1 saved game at a time though, and it only saves if you hit Escape from inside the quest.  I once had the game crash to desktop and lost 2 levels of good progress, so now whenever I am doing well or make a really lucky item find, I try to remember to "Escape -> Continue" so that this doesn't happen to me again.

Oh, i see, i have non-english characters in my windows system folders too.

As for saves, i think it would be great if you introduce Steam Cloud synch for Steam users, as it would make game progress easily accessible on new computer just by connecting to Steam.

This is definitely a bug. A few people are getting this. At first I thought it was something to do with non-english characters in your Windows username, but a few people have it with only english characters in their windows username. I'm still looking for a solution. I may add an option to put the saves in the same directory as the exe. This would have the added benefit of making the game, with saves, easier to transfer to other computers.
